The SE3005
is designed to insert analogue VBI data such as teletext
and VITC timecode into a serial digital D1 video signal.
The unit
has two data inputs which must be synchronous with
the main video and an RS232 serial data input. This
flexibility allows, for example, a teletext data stream
and Oliver opt-out data and optionally RS232 teletext
subtitle data to be inserted at the same time.
The inserter
provides two advanced sync outputs which may be configured
to synchronise teletext data sources and to compensate
for cable distances. Configuration of the unit is
carried out using a PC setup utility through the RS232
serial port.
The more
powerful SE3005/B version is fitted with a teletext
databridge module. This allows one of the data inputs
to be asynchronous to main video with the added advantage
of regenerating the teletext signal before insertion.
Front panel
LEDs provide status indication of the main video and
data inputs, and for indicating video bypass system
errors and serial comms activity. Closing contact
alarm outputs are provided on the rear panel.
The unit
comes with PC software that is used to configure the
SE3005 as required. Data on TV lines on the output
can be inserted from the same TV lines on data inputs
C or D, or from RS232 data, or may pass through from
the main video input.
If data
is to be moved from one TV line to another, then this
has to be done using the databridge module. The configuration
file is downloaded to the unit by RS232 connection.
